Que sera, sera.

on May 14, 2011

Things no one tells you before you start to TTC:

  • TTCing is a lot like playing battleship.  You know the ship/egg is there SOMEWHERE, but it’s a big shot in the dark to narrow down WHERE exactly the fucker is and to hit it.
  • TTCing is crazymaking… okay, someone might have mentioned this one a few hundred times… but I think it’s one of those things you just can’t understand until you go through it.  Kind of like the pain of breaking a limb…you know it would hurt in theory, but until you’ve actually done it you don’t understand how much.

So, this morning we went ahead and inseminated with one vial.  Neither Shorty nor I feel like it was the best timing ever, but we also don’t think it’s completely hopeless either.  Because of the temp drop yesterday morning followed by a spike this morning and other fertility signs from yesterday we both feel like there’s a strong possibility she may have ovulated yesterday.  If she did, then we could be catching her on the downhill slope of the 24hour window of viability for the egg.  Like I said, not the best timing ever, because I know everyone always says once you see the temp spike it’s over… but we shall see.

I also think we’re going to go ahead and inseminate with the second vial in a few hours.  We don’t really want to send it back, and depending on WHEN she ovulated yesterday, the egg may still be viable.

So again, que sera, sera.  Whatever will be, will be.

good for going with your gut. for what it’s worth, our first try now seems like it was a shot in the dark, but i think we learned a lot from it. hope that little eggy is in there chillin!

I think insemming sounds like the right way to go. And I’d use them both, 12 hrs apart, because there doesn’t seem much point in sending it back, and you still have a good chance of catching the egg even if you’re a little late.

And the battleship analogy is perfect.

I’m sorry that the cycle has been (a lot, dreadfully) less than textbook. I agree with isa; you’ve done your best under the circumstances! I have fingers and toes crossed that your impossible-to-predict timing is the perfect timing for this cycle!
